Hello everybody,
Well I am no longer in the ghetto so
I suppose now I have to speak somewhat proper English now. Haha. What a good
week this has been indeed. Dunwoody is a good area. It’s really affluent and a
lot of white people so I am a little bit out of my comfort zone. It’s been an
interesting change that’s for sure. It feels like I have to develop a new way
of talking with people. I say that because generally most of the people here
have everything they need. They have family, house, the basic things they need
but they maybe don’t necessarily see that they need God. They maybe don’t
understand that God has given them all those things so it’s going to be a
process of trial and error to find how to approach them better. That’s why I
love missionary work you get to learn adapt and do :)
My new companion’s name is Elder Woodward
and yet again he’s from the amazing state of Utah. He’s a good kid. He has been
out for nearly 6 months and he’s super funny. Just like every companion you
have to learn how to get along with him how to teach and work with him. So far
we get along great. So I don’t have any worries. The ward here is great. We have
a little work to do with getting them to be on board with the work of
salvation. We get to work with the members a lot more and build the trust with
them to help increase the number of referrals that we receive from them and to
be able to teach your friends. They like missionary work and they want to do
them but I don’t think they see that they actually have to do the work for this
work to go forward. But I don’t want to have it sound like I’m being judgmental
of this ward or anything other ward. It’s just that it’s a commandment that we
share the gospel with our friends and our neighbors. They need the gospel just
like we do and in order for the Lord’s work to go the way it is supposed to go
we need to be willing to share our testimony, put our beliefs out there and
share this amazing gospel with everyone. It’s simply not just the missionaries
job to find and teach it’s the ward members as well.
We are teaching this amazing guy
named James. He recently lost his wife this past year and he is still coping
with the depression that sets in. He’s super humble and he really wants to find
the truth and he loves the fact that we teach families can be together forever.
And it strengthened my testimony and my faith that as I went home and looked at
the pictures of my family it hit me like a sack of potatoes... I love my
family! I am so thankful that we have the vision of eternity.
Thank you so much for all that you
do for me
Love,
Elder Macoubrie
aka E MAC
