Ho ho ho with mistletoe hung where
you can see!
What a week it has been indeed. The weather
has changed and yet again I prayed for a white Christmas and I didn’t get it
again. Sad day. That make like 4 or 5 years now! Sadly I didn’t get my Christmas
shopping done yet so my gifts shall be late yet again. I was slacking this
year. Been too busy and lazy!
Here’s a cool story that happened
this week!
Elder Moore and I were
on exchanges this week and had planned an entire day in the northern part
of the area. But for some reason as we were about to head out to go
and work that day and Elder Moore had a distinct impression that
we should go south instead. It was weird, nevertheless we obeyed. We
headed south on a treacherous bike ride. As we approached a neighborhood we
hung a quick right and zoomed on in. As we were riding down the street, he
had yet another clear distinct impression. "Go knock on that house,
someone important lives there." We immediately hopped off our bikes and
knocked on the door.
A woman in her mid-30s answered the door. And I tell you what...our approach had to be the most awkward and dreadful one I’ve ever been a part of. Haha. However we got to talking. She knew very little about the church. We began to testify of Jesus Christ, the restoration and of Heavenly Father's love. Her eyes began to moisten as she asked a sincere solemn question. "Why did you guys come here today?" The tears began to flow. We asked what was wrong. Little did we expect what she told us. Weeping, she said that "4 years ago yesterday my sister committed suicide. Last night I dropped my kids off at my mom’s house. I was about to take my own life. Then I saw you two. At first I thought you were salesman...but I answered the door anyways." I testify of the power of the Holy Ghost that was present on that doorstep as we said "We represent Jesus Christ and He sent us to you today to fill you with His peace....and to say keep going, keep pressing forward, there is happiness and help ahead."
Elder Moore and I felt the huge amount of love that Heavenly Father and the Savior has for her. The more we testified, the more she cried. We quoted Alma 34:40-41 and Alma 36:3 for her and handed her my copy of the Book of Mormon. We had been the instrument in the hands of Lord to save her life and offer her what she has been missing in her life. She now has a Book of Mormon and is reading it.
I stand firm with Thomas S. Monson and add my testimony to his when he said:
"The sweetest experience I know in life is to feel a prompting and act upon it and later find out that it was the fulfillment of someone’s prayer or someone’s need."
Love,
