Happy Easter everyone! It’s the day
of the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ and what a glorious day that was
to be in the mission field and to be alive.
This week has been good. I mean not a
lot has happened but it was good. You know when you are trying your hardest and
you don’t see the results but you still feel good about the work you do and are
just mentally and physically exhausted? Ya well that was this week for sure. We
had so many appointments lined up with all sorts of people and probably out of
those 30 appointments we had lined up...we had 3 stick... Lame but hey we
tracted and knocked doors dropped in on people called did everything we could
and I hope that the hard work we did this week will pay off and that this week
we will get those appointments and be able to start baptizing those people.
Church was good yesterday. It really
wasn’t about Easter but hey...There were some good talks given just about the
gospel of Jesus Christ (faith repentance baptism…you know) classes were good
but sadly we didn’t have too many souls at church. We did have Ricky who came
to church. He’s a guy married to a member and he said he wanted to change but
he (I feel) doesn’t want to give up drinking and smoking yet. So that’s a
struggle that we are starting to work with him. Just taking baby steps he has to
start working on reading the Book of Mormon every day. That one act alone will
truly be able to help him change his life. If he really wants to stop drinking
he will start reading every day. I know that it will help him; I’ve seen it
happen in others’ lives that I have be able to watch their progress. The Savior
Jesus Christ knows how we feel and he is always willing to help but we have to
work for that. Prayer is a communication between us and God. That means that to
have something happen we have to work for it. It’s not an ask type question
that you receive. It’s ask and then work and then maybe you’ll get what you
asked for. The godhead isn’t a genie that just gives us three wishes. I love
talking about the simplicity of the gospel. Sure you can study all about this
and that and how that works and how to prove people wrong but you can study
about the basics and still make it in to heaven and have it mean just as much
as all the more complicated stuff.
Tasha has kind of fallen of the
wagon a little bit. She really hasn’t been reading or coming to church and she
lost the steam :( that’s why we have to read every day. We don’t have to lose
that steam. So that’s a work in progress. And Jelisa is the same way. We haven’t
been able to meet with her and haven’t been able to see her at church, but hey
we won’t lose her either. We had a cool experience this week at church though...
So I have seen this lady coming to
church and I knew that she wasn’t a member but I knew that she wants to be
baptized. And all the other missionaries told me to go try to teach her. But
the spirit told me to wait until this week. I don’t know why but this week she
told us to set a time up with her to teach her the lessons to have her baptized.
I know that we will be able to teach her everything before May 1st which is the
next transfer cycle. Her name is Quay and she’s a very humble lady who will be
a super strong influence on the ward I know it.
Elder Hoching is still doing great. He’s
still working hard and still has that desire to learn quickly which is great. I
couldn’t imagine trying to train a pile who doesn’t want to work...I would be
hating life. Just like every companionship we have our ups and downs but we are
doing great. Still trying to perform miracles in this area.
It makes me feel old since he is one
of the new wave of 18 yr olds...Crazy how fast the Lord works.
But that’s really about it.
Everything is great down here in GA. The weather is beautiful and everything is
amazing.
Hope everyone has a good week and
keeps pressing on no matter how much snow!
Love,
Elder Macoubrie
