Happy Birthday, Elder Macoubrie!

Well happy birthday to me!!!

Haha ok well hey everybody how goes it back in the Fort? I always hear the weather back at home. We have a guy named Paul and he is always updating me on the weather back at home. It’s so funny! He’s a funny guy that has what our cousin Megan had. So I really feel for him. He has such a special spirit about him. It always seems like I draw to those special souls.

Well training is going good. I have been out of the new missionary stuff for such a long time it’s a new experience getting back into it but it’s really a fun experience. Elder Hoching really has a desire to learn quickly which is good but he needs to slow down a bit. He’s so anxious to get the 12 week program done in 6 and that’s not really how it works. So I have to keep reminding him to slow down. I remember when I was that young in the mission I was the same way. He wants instant success (not that I blame him I do too) but it’s just the fact that we have to be obedient to what the Lord has asked of us. We may not have that perfect day and we may not find people for a little while but the Lord has asked that we do it so we must do it. Something we can all learn. It may not be fun it may not be easy but the Lord has asked so we must do.

Tasha has been off the radar for a little bit since this whole deal with her son but hopefully we will be able to baptize her next week end and be able to see her take that covenant upon herself. She is so ready and needs to do it. So I don’t really know how she is doing but all I know is that she is good and was out of town but i will find more tonight when we see her.

This week really has been awesome. The Lord was just trying our patience and really seeing what we would do under pressure and what would happen if things got changed up. We did have a couple days of no work happening. We still had a lot of appointments fall through and just stuff happen but He knew that we would do our best and we did what He asked so He blessed us so much. We found some amazing families that were so prepared. I don’t know them very much as we met with the on Friday and Sunday. One family is Jelisa. She’s a young mom about 24 and sounds like she has a party life when younger. But we went over there and talked to her and she really wants to be a better mom for her 3 young kids. She wants to settle down in a church but really hasn’t been able to find that church. I know that she found her church she just doesn’t know it yet... But she will :)

Reading an Increase in Learning has helped me so much in the little bit I have read. I already knew it but Elder Bednar just said it in a better way that I could. The spirit has just a profound effect on the lives of those we come in contact with. He really changes those people’s lives. I don’t do it. And Elder Hoching doesn’t change their hearts but it’s the spirit of the Lord that does. We need to constantly strive for the spirit. That’s our promise is that we have the constant companionship and we must do everything possible to remain worthy of that spirit. It’s not just a simple thing that we can use when we want but we must use this sacred gift in all that we do. Use it in school work talking to our friends. This is our work and this is our duty to do this work. It’s not just the missionaries job but it’s the members engrain that in your head. You must help do missionary work. You are the key as members. Open the door to the missionaries to teach. Invite your friends to listen to the missionaries and to come to church. It’s not hard...Ask the elders for help. They will show you. I promise that your life will change as your let your friends know that the message of the restoration will change their life. Because it has changed mine.
I love you guys so much! Your awesome keep inviting and keep doing. Study every day and pray all the time.

You rock!!
Love,
elder macoubrie
