Union City

Well hello there everybody!

Christmas is come and gone and it’s so sad to watch 2012 come and go so fast. It seems just like yesterday we were staying up watching the ball from 2011. Hey that’s life.

New updates so far. I am now in Union City. It’s like 2.5 hours north of Macon and just outside ATL. It’s a really cool area just right by the airport so I get to a lot of planes land and take off every day. Pretty cool I guess it gets old with all the engines roaring but if you just tune it out you don’t hear it really. Imagine that :) My new companion is Elder Smith. He is a cool kid so far. We sometimes have our challenges as he tries to tell me what I can and cannot do, but something that I will have to learn to get over and just suck it up. Its weird being in the suburbs of ATL. Not sure if I like the big city yet but it’s slowly growing on me. We did get to go to this place called Underground ATL. An underground mall that supposedly white people can’t go down into because we will get robbed and beat up. Luckily I made it in and out with no damage done. So it can’t be that bad haha.

Christmas was really cool and really interesting to be away from home for a major holiday for the first time. Sadly we didn’t get a white Christmas we just got rain and fog. So I guess you could count it as a "white Christmas" haha. The missionaries that serve in the Atlanta ward got to go over to the local 70s house, Elder Parker, and spend the afternoon with them. It was such a cool experience to be apart in that. I got some really great gifts that really help me learn the gospel better and really how to be a better missionary which we all know I need.

Everything is going good here. Since I have been here we have gotten 3 baptismal dates and hopefully they will all pull through. Anthony is our first investigator that I want to tell you about. He’s married and his wife is a member and has two little kids. He really wants to know and find out that the church is true but he really has a hard time understanding the spirit a lot of the time, so he really hasn’t got his answer yet. But I know that as I pray and ask for the Lord’s help, angels will help attend him and really help him feel or get his answer. But he will get it just on the Lord’s time.

The ward is really cool. It’s one of the most diverse wards that I have been in. They do things really different here but it’s really cool to be a part of that. It’s going to be a challenge as we try to get the ward mission process going which if done right will help us gain the trust of the members which will really be able to do the word of the Lord in a more effective way rather than just knocking doors all day.

That’s really all about it. New rules that I don’t see the point of yet but I keep hoping I will. Such as new music rules that we can only listen to hymns and EFY on Mondays. So most of that music you sent I can’t listen to :( but I’ll see if I can work something out.

But that’s it. I don’t know what else to say.

Happy New Year!!!

Love
Elder Macoubrie
